The Standing Military Committee, members of the Lohmann's Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lakeway Police Department and the City of Lakeway Parks and Recreation Department will partner with Lake Travis High School to host a performance by the Air Force Band of the West in tribute to the fallen on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th at noon in the Performing Arts Center at LTHS. Summer is just around the corner! Are you looking for activities and day camps in the Lakeway area? This event will familiarize children and their parents about the classes and camps that are being offered at the Lakeway Activity Center over the summer. The Austin Planetarium will set up an indoor exhibit inside the ballroom and around the perimeter of the room, tables full of instructors will offer hands-on introductions to their classes. Participating exhibitors include KinderDance, Abrakadoodle, Tai Kwon Do, Singing Bowl, Dog Training, Cook Learn Grow, CATS Summer Camp, Bits Bytes and Bots, Lego 101, Round Rock Fencing Club and SportBall. Try them out and take the opportunity to sign up for classes! We also be thanking the members of the Lakeway Activity Center in the courtyard with a free hotdog lunch served by Mayor David DeOme and the Lakeway City Council. Music provided by the Jeff Inman Band. Everyone is welcome. There is no entrance fee for this event so come by for some summer fun!
Movies In the Park - 2014 - all movies will be shown on Friday nights this year

Movies In the Park is a summertime series presented by the City of Lakeway at Lakeway City Park, 502 Hurst Creek Road. Movies will begin at dusk - 8:45 PM. Free popcorn and other treats will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to set up at our 'Theater Under the Stars'. So that everyone can see the screen we request blankets to the middle and lawn chairs to the outside. Also, we request that any blinking/glowing items be put under your blanket while the film is being shown. Please, no dogs at this event.

Dive-In Movies is presented by the Lakeway Swim Center, 3103 Lakeway Blvd., near the World of Tennis. Fee: $3.00/person.
The pool area will be cleared at 8:00 PM and anyone wishing to see the movie will be charged $3 at to be let back into the pool area at 8:30 PM to see it. Swimming is allowed while the movie is being shown. For more information, call 512-261-3000.

July 4th Celebration - 2014

The City of Lakeway will kick off a day-long July 4th Celebration on Friday, July 4th!
8:30 AM - A festive parade on Lakeway Drive will wind its way from the Live Oak Golf Course to the Lakeway Activity Center at Cross Creek Road. This year's theme - Saluting Citizen Soldiers.
10:30 AM - Immediately following the parade, please join us at the Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek Road, for the Pageantry of Flags featuring a keynote address by our Grand Marshals, Col. Richard Adams USANG and Col. Kristine Shelstad, USANG, patriotic music by The Wildflowers and parade awards. Courtyard music will be provided by the Lake Travis Fiddlers. Donuts, orange juice and coffee will be provided in Room F.
12 Noon - 9:00 PM - The Lakeway Swim Center will open for fun at noon today with special pricing - $3.00 per person, all day, with in-and-out privileges. It is located at 3103 Lakeway Blvd @ The Hills Drive.
7:00 PM - Block Party and Concert featuring the band, The Loose Wheels, from 7 - 10 PM at Swim Center Park adjacent to the Swim Center at the corner of Trophy Drive and Highlands Blvd. Dance in the tent! BYOB! Food for purchase includes freshly baked pizza from Papa Murphy's and snowcones/ice cream/drinks from IceCream2U. On site for the kids: Attractions to be determined and LaserTag and - don't forget! - the pool and its concession stand will stay open until 9PM. Free parking available at Serene Hills Elementary School and surface streets.
10:00 PM - Happy 4th of July from the City of Lakeway! Sorry, no fireworks this year due to extended drought conditions.

The Great Goblin Glow - 2014

Happy Halloween from the City of Lakeway! Come one, come all on Saturday, October 18, 2014 to Lakeway City Park (502 Hurst Creek Road) and celebrate the season as hot air balloons illuminate the night sky from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Children from around the area are invited to wear their costumes and enjoy an evening featuring candy, glitter tattoo artists, a juggler, balloon twisters, SpinOut Swings ride and listen to Strat Cat DJ spin some records. Onsite food trailers to be determined. IceCream4U and Kona Ice Austin will provide food/drinks for purchase and KettleKing will cook up delicious caramel corn for your enjoyment! Don't forget to see the live bats exhibit and venture into Lakeway's own Dead End Cemetery! Please, no dogs at the park on this night

Trail of Lights - 2014

Lakeway City Hall - 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road
The Trail of Lights display is located just behind Lakeway City Hall and may be accessed by parking either at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, or at the Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek Road. Come see thousands of twinkling lights! See amusing tableaus, all accompanied by delightful seasonal music! For those attending who may be in wheelchairs or for those with baby carriages, please park at City Hall and access the Trail by walking down the front sidewalk to the right and around the building. Bicycles and motorized vehicles such as Lil' Rascals and golf carts are not permitted. The Trail of Lights will continue nightly from 6:00 PM until midnight through the end of December. No dogs, please.

Come to the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek, to purchase tickets for the annual Breakfast With Santa! Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be meeting children individually and the price of admission includes breakfast, a toy for each child and a photo of each child with Santa. The breakfast buffet will consist of a breakfast taco for adults and a beef kolache for the children accompanied by a fresh fruit salad and/or Gogurt and applesauce. Juice, milk and coffee will be available.
Tickets are $15 each and are available as follows:
November 10th - 14th - Tickets may be purchased by Lakeway Activity Center members only.
November 17th - Tickets may be purchased by the general public.

StoryWalk - 2015

On the trail behind Lakeway City Hall
Parking available at Lakeway Activity Center parking lot - lower level, 105 Cross Creek
Take a walk! Read a book! Children can enjoy a Valentine's Day story while taking a short stroll around the trail behind Lakeway City Hall. Pages of popular children's book, Love You When by Linda Kranz, have been posted along the walkway so that young readers can experience the importance of reading, spending time with friends and connecting with nature in a fun way. Visitors are encouraged to share the joy of reading with a friend and to record their responses at the end of the route. The StoryWalk® Project was created in 2007 by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. This experience is free!
Eggstravaganza! - 2015

Happy Easter, Happy Spring from the City of Lakeway! We celebrate the season with Eggstravaganza! at City Park, located at 502 Hurst Creek Road. Bring your basket! The event will begin at 2:00 PM. Age specific egg hunts will begin at 2:45 with the 7 - 8 year-olds going first, followed by the 5 - 6 year-old group. We will have the hunt for the 3 - 4 year-olds around 3:00 and cheer on the 1 - 2 year-olds after that. Children from the area are invited to participate in all the festivities which will include a petting zoo, a cookie decorating craft, mural coloring, spin art, a visit from the Easter Bunny, glitter tattoo artists and a special guest to be announced.
