Each year, the City of Lakeway plans a special event for our residents who have hazardous waste to dispose. Items not allowed to be disposed in normal weekly solid waste pick-up are collected at the Household Hazardous Waste Event for the convenience of our residents, and the safety and well-being of everyone. What to bring: Household cleaning products, drain cleaners, oven cleaning solvents, degreasers, polishers, pool chemicals, household batteries, mercury thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, gas grill propane tanks, paint, automotive and technology products. Each household is allowed to bring 2 standard file boxes of docu-ments clear of paper clips or other metal objects. The Activity Center is the site of four indoor garage sales per year. This unique community event is fun for collectors, families and bargain hunters. You will find everything from children's clothing and toys; to housewares, collectibles, tools, home furnishings, and much more! There is no admission, but the Activity Center will be collecting non-perishable food items for the food banks if you wish to contribute. (Note: Booths are sold out for this sale.) Memorial Day Ceremony - Monday, May 28, 2012 - 10AM - noon. The Heritage Center will host a Memorial Day Ceremony to pay tribute to those who have died in our nation's service. Former USAF fighter-pilot and local resident Rick Zehrer will be the keynote speaker at the event that is open to the public. The Lakeway PD will provide the Color Guard and the Lakeway Sing-Alongs will perform. Guests are encouraged to arrive early due to limited parking at Heritage Park. Additional parking is available across the street and in the Lakeway MUD parking lot. There will be tented seating available for approximately 200 and bottled water will be available at no charge. This event is co-sponsored by the Standing Military Committee and the Lohmann's Ford Chapter of the DAR.
